The person behind it

Hi, I'm Gavin.

I build the sites myself, backed by a dedicated account manager who keeps everything moving. It's a small team on purpose: close enough that you always know who you're dealing with, never a sales floor or a chain to be passed along. We're growing carefully, and that part won't change.

A note from me

Why I started Build 76

I have been building for the web since 2007. PHP first, then whatever the job needed: enterprise portals, agency work, a training portal for the NHS. Nearly two decades of watching how websites actually get made, from the inside.

Most of what I saw put me off. Long timelines, vague updates, quotes with a zero on the end that didn't need to be there, and clients left in the dark wondering what they'd paid for. Good businesses ended up with websites that embarrassed them, or no website at all because the whole thing felt too hard.

Build 76 is my answer to that: a small team that actually knows what it's doing, a fair price, and a straight line from “I need a website” to a site you're proud of.

No jargon, no drawn-out process, no surprises on the invoice. If you want a faceless agency where you never speak to the person building your site, that honestly isn't us. But if you want a small team that picks up the phone, tells you the truth, and builds you something that works, we'll get on.

The path here

Eighteen years, distilled

  1. 2007

    Where it started

Wrote my first lines of PHP and got hooked on building things people actually use.

  2. 2012

    Going independent

Moved to the North East and went contract. Built enterprise tools for clients including the NHS, like a login portal for their first aid training programme.

  3. 2016

    Manchester

Made Manchester home and started freelancing for agencies around the UK. Saw how projects really run, from the inside: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  4. 2024

    Build 76

Took everything I had learned about what clients quietly hate, and built the opposite.

What I care about

The way I like to work

01

Plain English

No jargon and no mystery. You'll always know what's happening and why.

02

A fair price

Professional work without the agency markup, on terms that suit a small business.

03

Built to last

Fast, secure, and made to grow with you. No corners cut where it counts.

04

Your win is my win

I would rather have one client who stays than ten who feel sold to.

Why “Build 76”?

In software, a build is a compiled version of a project. Each one gets a new number: a small step forward, an improvement on the last. It felt like the right idea to name a company after.

Build 76

The 76 is my initials, Gavin Fawcett, by their place in the alphabet. A small personal mark on every project, and a reminder of why I do this: to build something that lasts, one at a time.

Rather talk to a person than a pipeline?

That's the whole point. Book a quick call and it'll be me on the other end, no script and no pressure.
