Two different things

“Pay monthly” means two different things.

Both are legitimate. Neither is a trick. But they answer completely different questions, and most providers never tell you which one you’re being quoted. It’s why one firm says £20 a month and another says £150 or more for something described with the same three words.

A managed serviceFrom £20 a month
You pay monthly and the provider designs, builds, hosts and looks after the site. They keep the design and code while you’re subscribed, which is what allows the price to start low with nothing up front. This is what we do.
A payment plan for a site you ownTypically £150 to £275 a month
The build cost divided across a fixed term, usually 12 to 36 months, often with a maintenance fee on top. It costs far more per month because no ongoing subscription is subsidising it. At the end of the term the site is yours.

If owning the files outright from day one matters more to you than avoiding an upfront bill, the second one is the better fit and we’ll tell you so.

What it costs

From £20 a month.
Nothing up front.

No setup fee, no minimum term, cancel any time. Your first payment starts once the site is finished and you’re happy to go live, not before.

Before you sign anything

The three questions worth asking.

Ask these of anyone quoting you a monthly figure, us included. A provider who can’t answer all three plainly is telling you something.

Ownership
Your domain, content and data are yours from day one. We keep the design and code while you’re subscribed, and you can buy the site outright whenever you like, for less the longer you’ve been with us.
Contract length
None. No minimum term, no notice period, no exit fee. A 12 month term at £29 a month commits you to £348 before you know whether it works. Ours commits you to one month.
Update limits
No per-edit charges and no monthly allowance of minutes. Send changes to your words, images, sections or pages and we make them, faster on the higher plans.

What the monthly covers

One payment. Not six bills.

Bought separately, hosting is a bill, the domain renews annually, SSL might be extra, email is per mailbox and every content change is an invoice or an evening of your own time. Rolling them together removes about five renewal dates from your year.

  1. 01

    Design and build

A site designed for your business, not a template with your logo dropped in.

  2. 02

    Hosting

Fast CDN hosting, SSL and daily backups, managed for you. Nothing to renew.

  3. 03

    Your domain

Registered and renewed as part of the plan. It stays yours.

  4. 04

    Business email

Proper addresses on your own domain.

  5. 05

    Security and updates

Patching and monitoring handled, so nothing quietly breaks.

  6. 06

    Ongoing changes

Words, images, sections and pages. Included, not billed by the hour.

Proof

Judge it on the actual sites.

Plenty of providers lead with a total: hundreds of websites built, thousands even. We won’t, because a number tells you nothing about whether the work is any good. These are real businesses, named, and you can open every one of them.

    Cara Glass

A site that size, and their team updates it in seconds without waiting on a developer.

Sales, lettings and student accommodation running through a live Reapit integration. Their IT Director is happy to be asked about it.

Questions

Answered straight.

What is a pay monthly website?
A professional website you pay for in monthly instalments instead of one large payment up front. The fee covers the design and build plus hosting, your domain, business email, security, backups and ongoing changes, all in one figure. Ours starts at £20 a month.
Is there a contract or minimum term?
No. There’s no minimum term, no notice period and no exit fee. You pay monthly and can stop any time. That’s worth checking carefully elsewhere, because a 12 month term at £29 a month commits you to £348 before you find out whether it works.
Who owns the website?
Your domain, your content and your data are yours from day one and always leave with you. We keep the design and code while you’re subscribed, which is exactly what lets the price start at £20 a month rather than £150 or more. You can buy the site outright at any point.
What does it cost to buy it outright?
The price comes down the longer you’ve been with us, because by then more of the build is already paid off. Every project is a different size so we quote it at the time rather than publishing one figure that would be wrong for most people. Ask at any point and we’ll tell you the number.
How many changes are included?
Changes to your words, images, sections and pages are included on every plan, and the turnaround gets quicker as you move up. There’s no per-edit charge and no monthly allowance of minutes to keep track of.
Is there a setup fee?
No. Nothing to pay up front, and your first monthly payment only starts once the site is finished and you’re happy to go live.
What happens if I cancel?
Your domain, content and data come with you. The site itself comes down unless you buy it outright, which you can do on the way out. There’s no penalty and no notice period, so cancelling costs you nothing beyond the month you’re in.
How long does it take to build?
We send a redesigned version of your homepage within three working days, before you’ve paid anything, so you can judge it against what you have now. Once you approve it, most sites are live within about two weeks.
What’s the catch at £20 a month?
That we keep the design and code while you’re subscribed. It’s the honest trade: you avoid a four figure bill up front and we carry the build cost, so we need you to stay a customer for it to work. If owning the files outright from day one matters more to you than the upfront cost, a one-off build is the better fit and we’ll say so.

We’ll redesign your homepage and send you a link within three working days, before you’ve paid anything.

Weighing it up against building it yourself? We compared the honest trade-offs against Wix, Squarespace, WordPress and the AI builders, and wrote up what a pay monthly website actually is without the sales pitch.
